The wayfinding system for the Harmonia Mokotów Apartments residential development was designed as an integral part of the architecture and the identity of the place. The starting point was a series of original paintings by Anna Nowokuńska, created using watercolor and acrylic paints – subtle, calm compositions shaped by a search for visual harmony.
The paintings were then scanned, digitized, and transformed into the graphic language of the visual information system. Each floor was assigned a distinct motif, allowing the graphics to serve not only a decorative role but also to support intuitive navigation throughout the building.
The resulting visual language is consistently applied across the entire development – from the façades and entrances to the stairwells to the garage areas. Linear geometric compositions inspired by celestial bodies form a subtle recurring theme, adapted to the scale and character of each space. The color palette was carefully coordinated with the interior architecture and complemented by metallic accents in gold and silver.
The entrances to the stairwells were emphasized with illuminated circular lightboxes, ensuring clear visibility even after dark. In the garage, the wayfinding system was also used as a tool for shaping the character of the space – painted graphics on columns, corners, and around parking spaces soften the technical nature of the interior and give it a distinctive identity.
The result is a cohesive system in which information, graphic design, and architecture complement one another, creating a recognizable and calming environment for residents.
